Proenza Paints The Walls Of NYFW With Pops Of Color

Hey Loves,

The weather in NYC is brightening up and so is the fashion! A brand that I am obsessed with is giving us so much color that it can brighten up any rainy day. That brand is Proenza Schouler. I remember seeing the PS 1 bag on every celeb and influencer a couple of years ago and I was on the quest to find one for myself. I’ve always loved messenger style bags so it was no surprise that I was going to love that bag! I finally scored one in a navy blue colorway and it is still one of my favorite bags.

Although I have always gravitated towards their accessories and bags, I have never felt brave enough to wear their clothes. My style has always been more on the feminine side with a bit of classic elements and their clothes have always had an edgier twist. In their collection for Spring 2022, they have switched things up and embraced a beautiful colorful palette with an array of different styles whilst staying close to their brand DNA. Trust and believe they still kept their street cred with their edgier pieces but it is done in a way where it feels very natural and it is no wonder why all the cool girls are always front row at their show.

Seeing the bold patterns on the coats and the way they paired an oversized trench or coat with a slip dress or a billowy bright dress with chunky sandals makes it so wearable and on trend for Spring. Lately that push for super oversized and exaggerated cuts have been popping up everywhere on and off the fashion scene and the grandpa sandal doesn’t seem to be going anywhere for a while. This show definitely didn’t disappoint and if you’re interested, I linked images from this collection and included some of my favorites. Leave your comments below on what your reaction is towards this collection and what some of your favorites are!

Lots of Love,

Have you met Do, Peter Do?

Hey Loves,

I don’t know what fashion shows you guys have been interested in seeing, but this fashion week, I have been finding so much inspiration from each show. Seeing the way designers are imagining what we will be wearing this upcoming spring is so inspiring and it makes me excited to get dressed up again!

Last year with everything going on personally, I lost my style a little bit. I went into quarantine and being a new mom, you can lose yourself a little with all the changes that were going on around me. Also since events were cancelled, everywhere I looked online, all I would see was athleisure. Don’t get me wrong comfy clothes will always hold a special place in my heart, but I’m someone who gets inspired by different fabrics, textures, cuts and colors, so athleisure doesn’t give me that same feeling.

This fashion week, I have been getting so much inspiration from all the different styles and designers that I have been seeing. Some of the designers have stuck to what has worked for them and some designers have found a way to give you a chance to dream. I know speaking like a true Piscean, but you can imagine which one is captivating me more.

A new designer that I discovered and fell in love with this fashion week is Peter Do. He is a young and upcoming designer who has worked with a lot of iconic design houses and is now designing under his own name. This was his first collection at NYFW and it definitely won’t be his last because his collection was exceptional. Every piece had a story and a feel about it and you could see his Vietnamese background influence in his designs. His collection wasn’t as bright as the other collections that I saw on the runway, but it has a muted elegance that is hard to ignore. It was free flowing in the way that it drapes on the body and celebrated a woman’s form. I especially loved this one piece where it was this long pink dress with a slit and pink long pants under it with a trench coat in the same exact shade of light pink as the pants. It’s elegant, it’s chic, and beautiful. It’s pure perfection.

To be honest, there were so many pieces that it is really hard to pick one that is my favorite, but I have linked them all below and I am sharing the some images from ones that I reallllly loved. People who know me, know that I am not really a minimalist in the way that I dress and I have always gravitated towards more loud pieces, but this season I have been seeing so many brands that have a minimal approach in the trends that they are inspiring, but they do it in a way where it isn’t boring. It’s fun and that is how dressing up should be! Let me know what some of your favorites are and I can’t wait to hear what some of your favorite designers are as well.

Lots of Love,

Christian Siriano Bringing That Italian Flair?

Hey Loves,

New York Fashion Week has officially began in NYC and the city is buzzing! Everyone is ready to have everything go back to normal and the fashion choices do not disappoint. I think everyone is at that point where as comfy as athleisure is, we just want to go back to wearing items that spark joy and Fashion week is such an amazing time to bring out your best fashion pieces and have fun.

One of the designers that I was really interested in was Christian Siriano. Most of his dresses end up on the red carpet and I love the way his clothes emphasize a woman’s body. One thing I enjoyed about his show was how much diversity was incorporated! He showed a range of different ethnicities, races and sizes. The deconstructed feel of the suits to the colors ranging from a canary golden yellow to this metallic green are definitely going to be showing up in Spring and there was something about the way he used white and black, that was modern and had an elegant feel. That being said, I do feel that some of his past collections were a little bit better in the sense that almost each piece would just be jaw dropping. This collection didn’t seem to have that same feel, but there were some pieces that were beautiful and so I wanted to share them.

It’s an interesting time in fashion because of the lack of certainty. As a designer, you have to make that decision are you going to be looking to the past for inspiration or are you deconstructing the future and creating something that has never been seen before. I can’t wait to see what other trends are popular for Spring 2022 and how other designers are treating our “new normal.” I’ve included the full slideshow from Vogue and I’m curious to read your comments on what your favorite pieces are and how you would style it!

Lots of Love,

Sahar
